March 2015 in Kensington, MD / Washington DC Temple Mission

March began with another birthday party.

People gathering for the party.

My friend, Maryanne Guthrie, was supposed to save my seat while I got up to get something else to eat.  And this 'guy' decided to sit in my place!  She was trying.....

We love to be included in the activities of our families.  Thanks for sharing.

While we were freezing in Maryland, my sister and her husband were enjoying the warmth of Jamaica!  Beautiful!

The new signage for our son-in-law's new business.  Good luck, Stephen!

And we got snow - again!

Escaping the cold weather by having some fun - 'making pens' in our warm apartment.

Beautiful snow-covered tree in the yard of the apartment

We love serving in the Visitors Center.

Ward Group Dinner at our apartment - this is our Bishop Mieremet and his wife, Marian.

My fun friend, Pam.

Beautiful sky on our way home from the temple.

My friend and 2nd floor neighbor, Sue.

My friend, Livia Maia, from Brazil by way of Utah.

We all have our 'favorite things'.

A beautiful picture of the temple.

The cut-away of the inside of the temple on display at the Visitors Center.

The Christus in the Visitors Center - the first thing you see when you walk in the door.

Merlin and Joy Price from Shelley, Idaho :)

Ward field trip to U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland - just look at these happy people!

U. S. Naval Academy - very impressive.

Inside the Academy - nothing else can I say about that.

I love the trees.

Appropriate, don't you think?

Aren't they cute?

One of the memorials on the Academy grounds.  This is the 2nd counselor and his wife from the Washington, D.C. Temple presidency.

just hangin' out...

Beautiful stained glass in the Academy chapel.

more of the inside of the chapel.

So beautiful.

The Navy certainly revered John Paul Jones.

This is his crypt.

A closer view.

These were amazing models of old-time sailing ships - incredible workmanship.
Displayed in the Academy Museum.

We had beautiful weather on this day.  We had just left the gift shop and were standing on the wharf of the Chesapeake Bay.

Having fun.

And another bit of snow.

Regardless of the weather, it is always beautiful at the temple.

Michael made a sour dough chocolate cake one evening, and before the night was over we had 15 people in our apartment!  Such fun!

Brother Lunnen and Brother Slade recited the poem The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert W. Service.  Delightful!

We invited our new neighbors, the Paynes, to have dinner with us.  Stephanie came in her black and white polka dot top - I think we will be good friends.

I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, there will be a Spring here.

"I'm going to see Gramma!" (just kidding)

I love it when my grandchildren (Brittany, in this case) remember the things I say to them.
Although, she did get to throw in her own little 'twist.'

It's nice to know that our money spent on musical instruments and lessons are still being appreciated in adulthood.  Way to go, Wayne.

Making a salad and thinking about the times Max would come down to see me and want to 'chop stuff.'

Max, playing with his 'chopper' and remembering the fun times we had 'chopping stuff.'

A lovely picture from my sister, showing us that Spring is coming to Idaho.

We hadn't been able to find Red Vine Licorice here - so my sweet sister (Sandie) sent me about 6 pounds of it!  Loving it!

Another time when our family let us be a part of their day.

Vikki and Paxton Modjeski.
Thank you, Modjeskis for including us.

Great to be included in this fun time at the Jeffrey and Amy Cannon household.

We attended an Easter program at the Visitors Center.

Picture of the temple when we left the program.

We, and our friends Pam and Evan Lewis, took the MARC train to Union Station on a Monday to see the shops, have lunch and explore the National Mall.
We can walk to the little train station by our apartment.

Pam didn't buy the hat, but she looks very cute in it.

We saw some young missionaries enjoying their P-day as well.
We took pictures and texted them to their moms.

The Capitol with scaffolding.

Our 'boys' being goofy! I love it.

A beautiful day - notice the Washington Monument in the back.

Enjoying the National Mall.

The cherry blossoms just beginning to appear.

A very creative young man trying to make some money.

Enjoying a fun day together.

Standing in the Lincoln Memorial feels like standing on holy ground.

Three happy amigos in front of the Washington Monument.  We hope to be able to go to the top one day.

A view of the Washington Monument from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

World War II Memorial - where's Michael?

These are for you, Sandie.
Advertising the Freer Gallery of Art.

The tiniest McDonald's I have ever seen.  It made me laugh.

The Smithsonian Castle on the Washington Mall.

Tired! And ready to get off our feet - and go back to our apartment.
On the train.

It is so beautiful here.  We love going to the temple five days a week where we are able to serve our Father in Heaven in His house.  We are very happy; and our testimonies are being strengthened not only by being in the temple but also by being with people who have goals and ambitions similar to ours.

We know that our Father in Heaven and our Savior love us and know who we are.  We know that we are where we are supposed to be.  This is where the Lord wants us to serve at this time and in this place and with these people.

Remember who you are!
We love you!

Happy Spring!
